The metal rotor flowmeter is a variable area flow measurement instrument. There is a freely rotating float inside the measuring tube. The float moves up and down in the measuring tube with the flow of fluid. When the fluid flows through the measuring tube, it will produce an upward thrust on the float, which is buoyancy. At the same time, the float is affected by gravity. When these two forces are balanced, the float will stabilize at a certain position.

Due to the structural characteristics of the metal rotor flowmeter, it is more suitable for measuring small diameter and low flow rate medium flow. Because for large-diameter and high-flow media, the float needs to withstand greater thrust to remain stable, which may lead to increased measurement errors. In addition, the measurement accuracy of the metal rotor flowmeter is also affected by the inner diameter and shape of the measuring tube, so these factors need to be considered when choosing to use a metal rotor flowmeter.
