Thermal mass flow meters can only be used for gas measurements

Equipment Configuration:Thermal mass flow meter

Because its working principle is based on the heat exchange between the flowing gas and the sensor.

Project Overview

When the gas flows through the thermal sensor, it will take away the heat emitted by the sensor. The amount of heat taken away is proportional to the mass flow rate of the gas.

This principle relies on the good thermal conductivity of gases, while the heat transfer efficiency of liquids is much higher than that of gases, and the density and specific heat capacity of liquids are usually larger, which may cause the sensor to cool down quickly and make it difficult to measure accurately, so Thermal mass flow meters are not suitable for measuring liquid flow. In addition, thermal mass flowmeters are more sensitive to gas types, and gases with high moisture content such as acetylene and steam cannot be used.
