The sensor of the orifice flowmeter can be simply regarded as being directly connected by two flanges with a pressure pipe, so there is only one hole.

The balanced flow meter sensor has a balance piece welded in the middle of the pipe with flanges welded at both ends, and several holes are opened in the balance piece. Such a structure can be approximately regarded as consisting of two flanges and multiple holes arranged between them, so it is called "porous".

They are very similar in structure. One has only one hole in the middle, and the other has many holes in the middle. They are both differential pressure flow meters and are considered throttling devices. The accessories included are also the same, such as differential pressure transmitter, three-valve manifold, needle valve, etc.

So the balance flow meter can also be called the porous balance orifice flow meter. Don’t misunderstand or mistake it when you see the porous balance orifice flow meter in the future.
