Vortex flow meters are generally used to measure high-temperature steam.
Project Overview
Vortex flow meters are generally used to measure high-temperature steam. High-temperature steam generally has two working states, one is saturated steam state, and the other is superheated steam state. In order to ensure the accuracy of measurement, it is necessary to select appropriate temperature or pressure compensation according to the two working states of high-temperature steam.
Saturated steam VS superheated steam
To put it simply, water under a certain pressure starts to vaporize after being heated to boiling, and gradually turns into steam. At this time, the temperature of the steam is equal to the saturation temperature. , steam in this state is called saturated steam. If the saturated steam continues to be heated and its temperature continues to rise and exceeds the saturation temperature under this pressure, the steam exceeding the saturation temperature is called superheated steam. In order to measure the steam flow value more accurately, the steam temperature and pressure near the measurement point can be collected, and the corresponding density and flow rate can be obtained through calculation. This is commonly referred to as temperature and pressure compensation.
Vortex flowmeter measures saturated steam
The saturation pressure and saturation temperature of saturated steam correspond to each other, that is, a certain saturation pressure must correspond to a certain saturation temperature. Therefore, both pressure compensation and temperature compensation can be adopted. In general, since pressure compensation is relatively easy and the measurement accuracy is high, the pressure compensation method is mostly adopted in implementation. A typical LUB split vortex flowmeter is used with an HSYB pressure transmitter.
Vortex flowmeter measures superheated steam
Superheated steam is obtained by heating saturated steam. Superheated steam does not contain tiny water particles in the liquid phase and is a single-phase fluid. Its characteristics are close to those of a gas. The temperature and pressure of superheated steam are two independent variables that are independent of each other. Its density is determined by these two parameters. During measurement, if either the temperature or pressure changes, the density of the steam will change and the mass flow rate will also change. Therefore, during measurement, the temperature and pressure must be compensated at the same time to ensure the accuracy of flow measurement. A typical LUB split vortex flowmeter is used with an HSYB pressure transmitter and a WZPK platinum resistor.
In addition, to measure high-temperature steam flowmeter (superheated steam or saturated steam), you can also choose LUB integrated vortex flowmeter with temperature and pressure compensation function, which is relatively low in cost.
