Vortex flowmeter manufacturers give the following advice.

  • 1、Vibration affects compressed air which is generated by air compressors or high pressure fans. When these devices are running, there are different degrees of vibration, and sometimes the vibration is relatively strong, this vibration will be transmitted through the connecting pipeline. In the vortex flowmeter selection and determine the location, should give full consideration to this impact factor, in a variety of different detection methods, due to different detection elements, the instrument's vibration resistance is not the same. For the vortex of the detection element, the vibration resistance can reach 0.5~1G. When determining the installation location of the vortex flowmeter, it should be as far away as possible from power equipment such as air compressors and fans.
  • 2、The amplitude of the vortex signal for small flow problems is proportional to the square of the flow rate and density of the measured medium. That is to say, when the detection sensitivity of the vortex flowmeter is certain, the working pressure of the fluid is increased, the density increases, the measured flow rate can be reduced a little, in turn, at a certain flow rate, if the working pressure of the fluid increases, the density increases, the vortex signal amplitude is also increased, can be adjusted to lower the detection sensitivity. For atmospheric pressure gas, vortex flowmeter lower limit flow rate up to 4 ~ 5m / s. For pressurised gases, such as: compressed air, due to increased density, the lower limit flow rate will be reduced. Therefore, when selecting the type, the actual working condition flow rate should be considered.
  • 3、Pulsating flow impact due to the fan and compressor output gas, most of which contain certain components of the pulsation. Roots fan output gas, its pulsation frequency and amplitude with the waist wheel speed and fixed displacement volume, usually pulsation frequency of 100 ~ 200HZ; and reciprocating compressor output gas frequency is lower, generally only a few Hertz. In addition, some gas equipment, such as air hammer, wind tools, etc. will also cause the pulsation of the gas flow, and the frequency and amplitude of this pulsation are random.
