Project Overview

  In the steel smelting process, the converter is an important piece of equipment that serves to convert iron ore into molten iron. In this process, fuels (e.g., gas) are used to provide heat. In order to ensure the supply and quality of gas, gas flow measurement is needed.V cone flowmeter is a commonly used instrument for gas flow measurement, the following to introduce its principle and use.

  I. Principle of V cone flow meter

  V cone flow meter is a kind of differential pressure flowmeter, utilizing the Bernoulli's law and the continuity equation, according to the relationship between the flow rate and the cross-sectional area of the fluid through the conical tube, the flow rate is calculated. Its measurement principle is based on a differential pressure sensor measuring the pressure difference between the two sides of the conical tube to calculate the flow rate. As the fluid passes through the conical tube, the static pressure decreases due to the increased flow rate, and according to Bernoulli's law, a pressure difference is created.

  Second, the use of V cone flowmeter

  1.Installation

  V cone flowmeter is usually installed in the gas pipeline, need to pay attention to the following points:

  (1) The installation location should avoid pipeline bending, fluctuation and shrinkage and other factors affecting fluid stability.

  (2) The inlet of the V-cone flowmeter should face the direction of gas flow, while the outlet should face the outlet of the pipeline.

  (3) In order to ensure the measurement accuracy, both ends of the flowmeter should be installed with straight sections of piping, the inlet section should be at least 10 times the diameter of the piping, and the outlet section should be at least 5 times the diameter of the piping.

  2. Calibration

  Before using V cone flow meter for gas flow measurement, calibration is required. Usually calibration is carried out under standard flow conditions, i.e. at the maximum range of the meter.

  3. Measurement

  After the calibration is completed, the V-cone flow meter can be used for gas flow measurement. The operation steps are as follows:

  (1) Install the V-cone flowmeter on the gas pipe.

  (2) Open the gas line and let the gas pass through the meter.

  (3) Measure the pressure difference between the two sides of the conical pipe using a differential pressure sensor.

  (4) Calculate the gas flow rate based on the measured pressure difference and the characteristic curve of the V-cone flow meter.

  4.Maintenance

  In order to ensure the measurement accuracy and long-term stability of the V cone flowmeter, proper maintenance is required. The following are some common maintenance measures:

  (1) Regular Cleaning and Inspection: The conical tube and differential pressure sensor of V-cone flowmeter need to be cleaned and inspected regularly to ensure accurate measurement results.

  (2) Replacement of sealing ring: The sealing ring of V-cone flowmeter will deteriorate with the increase of use time, and needs to be replaced periodically to ensure good sealing performance.

  (3) Prevent vibration and shock: V cone flowmeter should try to avoid vibration and shock during use, these factors may lead to a decline in measurement accuracy or damage to the instrument.

  (4) Regular calibration: After long-term use, the measurement accuracy of the V cone flowmeter may be reduced, so it needs to be calibrated regularly to ensure accurate measurement results.
