1. The general requirements for the front and rear straight pipe sections of a vortex flowmeter are: 20D in the front and 5D in the back (D is the inner diameter of the connected process pipeline). The valve is generally designed on the downstream side of the flowmeter.

2. When the flow meter is installed at the outlet of the compressor, blower, or plunger pump, a valve needs to be installed on the upstream side of the flow meter. In order to ensure the measurement accuracy of the flow meter, in addition to the length of the upstream straight pipe section being no less than 20D, it is best to install a flow limiting or buffering device on the upstream side, as shown in Figure 1:
