Steam vortex flowmeter vs balanced flowmeter
Steam vortex flowmeters and balance flowmeters are relatively common flow measurement instruments, each with their own advantages and disadvantages.
View MoreIncreased resistance and energy consumption: V-cone flowmeters have a problem when the fluid flows through the contraction section.
When measuring the flow of water, there are several reasons why V-cone flowmeters are not commonly used:
Increased resistance and energy consumption: V-cone flowmeters have a problem when the fluid flows through the contraction section. Large resistance and energy consumption make the V-cone flowmeter consume more energy when working stably for a long time. For water flow measurement, it is generally preferable to choose measuring equipment with smaller resistance and energy consumption.
Requires a large installation space: V-cone flowmeter is relatively large and requires a certain amount of installation space. For some applications with limited space, such as small water treatment systems or compact piping layouts, V-cone flow meters may not be suitable for use.
Displacement and visibility are inconvenient: The working principle of the V-cone flowmeter requires calculating the flow rate based on the pressure difference at different cross-sections, which requires the installation measurement points to be located at the contraction and expansion sections of the V-cone. However, due to the transparency of water, it is difficult to clearly and directly observe the water level difference at the pressure measurement point.
Based on the above reasons, in water flow measurement, the common choice is electromagnetic flowmeter. These instruments have smaller resistance and energy consumption, smaller size and more convenient installation, as well as higher accuracy and reliability. Taking these factors into consideration, V-cone flowmeters are generally not commonly used to measure water flow.
The magnetic inductive flowmeter industry, these are successful cases with comparable and reference value.
