Equipment Configuration:v-cone flow meter

The v-cone flow meter measures the fluid flow based on the Bernoulli principle and the flow totalizer is used to totalize, store and transmit the flow data, both of which are complementary to each other.

Project Overview

In the field of industrial automation and flow measurement, v-cone flowmeter, as a common flow measurement instrument, has a wide range of applications and stable performance. However, with only the calculation formula of V-cone flowmeter, do we still need the device of flow totalizer?

1. Working principle of v-cone flowmeter The v-cone flowmeter is a flow measurement instrument designed based on Bernoulli's law of energy conservation and the flow continuity equation. It measures the pressure difference before and after the fluid passes through the conical throttling device, and combines the density, temperature and other parameters of the fluid to obtain the flow rate of the fluid using calculation formulas. V-cone flowmeter has the advantages of high measurement accuracy, good stability, and small pressure loss, so it has been widely used in various fluid measurement situations. 2. Functions of the flow totalizer The flow totalizer is an instrument used for cumulative calculation of flow. It receives the signal from the flow sensor, such as the flow signal output by the V-cone flow meter, and displays the flow data in the form of a cumulative value after internal processing. The flow totalizer not only has the function of displaying flow in real time, but can also record, store, and transmit flow data as needed, making it convenient for users to manage and analyze flow data.

3. The relationship between V-cone flowmeter and flow totalizer. Ordinary V-cone flowmeter is often paired with a differential pressure transmitter, and its output signal is often a differential pressure value. The flow totalizer can convert the differential pressure value to obtain a specific flow value. Therefore, ordinary V-cone flowmeters and flow totalizers have certain complementarity in function. Therefore, in practical applications, v-cone flowmeters and flow totalizers are often used together.

However, the V-cone flowmeter equipped with an integrated multi-parameter transmitter can directly display the flow rate from the meter head, and the flow value can be obtained even without a flow totalizer. 4. Why a flow totalizer is needed 1. Cumulative calculation: The flow totalizer can perform cumulative calculations on the V-cone flowmeter and obtain the total flow value within a period of time. This is very useful for occasions where total consumption needs to be counted, such as water supply, heating, gas supply and other fields. 2. Data management: The flow totalizer has data storage and transmission functions. It can save the flow data in the internal memory and connect with external devices through the communication interface to realize remote transmission and sharing of data.

This allows users to easily obtain and manage traffic data, providing strong support for production and management. 3. Alarm function: Flow totalizers usually also have an alarm function. When the flow value exceeds the set range, an audible and visual alarm signal will be emitted to remind the user to take timely measures. This helps ensure production safety and prevent losses caused by abnormal flow. To sum up, although some models of V-cone flowmeters have the function of measuring flow, in practical applications, most still require a flow totalizer to accumulate, store, transmit and manage flow data. Therefore, v-cone flow meters and flow totalizers complement each other, and their combined use can provide us with a more comprehensive and accurate flow measurement solution.
