Turbine flow meter liquid flow sensor and gas flow sensor difference

Equipment Configuration:Turbine flow meter liquid flow sensor

Turbine flowmeter can be used for gas and liquid flow measurement, the difference between the two mainly lies in the structure, measurement principle, signal output.

Project Overview

The turbine flowmeter is an instrument that can be used to measure small-diameter gas and liquid flow, but the flow sensors are different when measuring gas and liquid. The differences are mainly in the following aspects:

Gas turbine flowmeter

1. Structural design:

The movement structure of the liquid turbine flowmeter is relatively simple and usually does not have a bearing system because the viscosity of the liquid is relatively high. High, it can provide a certain lubrication effect and is suitable for low-flow media.

The movement structure of the gas turbine flowmeter is relatively complex, and a good bearing system is required to support the high-speed rotating impeller, because the flow rate of the gas is fast and the lubricity of the gas is poor.

2. Measurement principle and compensation factors:

The density of gas is greatly affected by temperature and pressure, so gas turbine flowmeters usually need to be equipped with temperature and pressure compensation functions to accurately Measure the volumetric flow rate of gas. During the measurement process, it is necessary to track the temperature and pressure of the gas and convert the volume flow rate under different conditions into the volume flow rate under the standard state.

Liquid turbine flowmeters are less sensitive to changes in temperature and pressure and generally do not require temperature and pressure compensation.

Liquid turbine flowmeter

3. Signal output and application:

Gas turbine flow sensors/transmitters usually do not have on-site display function, but transmit the flow signal remotely, such as Pulse signal or current signal (4-20mA), often used in conjunction with secondary display, PLC, DCS and other computer control systems. This type of flow meter is usually explosion-proof.

Liquid turbine flowmeters may have on-site display capabilities but may also provide remote signal output.

4. Impeller speed and applicable flow rate:

The impeller speed of the liquid turbine flowmeter is low and is suitable for situations where the conventional flow rate of liquid media is 0.5-3m/s.

The impeller speed of the gas turbine flowmeter is relatively high and is suitable for high-flow media.

In general, liquid and gas turbine flow meters differ in design, measurement accuracy, compensation requirements, and signal processing to adapt to the characteristics and application requirements of their respective media. In actual use, an appropriate turbine flowmeter should be selected based on the properties of the medium being measured.
