During actual use, we found that most of the measurement inaccuracies were caused by improper installation of the probe. Therefore, installing the probe correctly becomes the first issue. After long-term practice, Hesheng Measurement and Control has summarized the following principles that should be followed during the installation of probes.
1. Preparation
(1) Confirm parameters: Before installation, it is necessary to confirm whether the ultrasonic flowmeter model, measurement medium, process pressure and other parameters meet the installation requirements.
(2) Measuring pipe parameters: Use a tape measure to measure the outer circumference of the pipe, use a thickness gauge to measure the pipe wall thickness, and use a surface temperature measuring instrument to measure the temperature of the outer wall of the pipe. These data help to set the parameters of the ultrasonic flowmeter and make the measurement data more accurate.
2. Installation method of ultrasonic flowmeter
Ultrasonic flowmeter is also a relatively common flowmeter. Its installation is the simplest and most convenient among all flowmeter installations. Just select For a suitable measuring point, input the pipe parameters at the measuring point into the flow meter, and then fix the probe on the pipe.
(1) Select a pipe section filled with fluid that is uniform and dense and easy to transmit ultrasonic waves, such as a vertical pipe section or a horizontal pipe section.
(2) The installation distance should be a uniform straight pipe section with an upstream greater than 10 times the straight pipe diameter and a downstream greater than 5 times the straight pipe diameter without any valves, elbows, diameter reductions, etc. The installation point should be sufficiently far away Interference sources such as valves, pumps, high-voltage electricity and frequency converters.
(3) Avoid installation at the highest point of the piping system or on vertical pipes with free outlets.
(4) For open or half-full pipes, the flow meter should be installed at the U-shaped pipe section.

Regardless of the installation method, when the measurement medium contains too many particulate impurities, it will affect the flow meter measurement.
