Correct installation method of metal tube float flowmeter

Project Overview

• 1. Metal tube float flowmeter installed into the process pipeline before the process pipeline needs to be blown, the pipeline welding slag cleaned up to avoid impurities in the pipeline to block the instrument, affecting the normal use.
• 2. To ensure measurement, it is recommended to install a 5 DN inlet straight section upstream of the flowmeter and a 250mm outlet straight section downstream.
• 3. Metal tube float flowmeter has a vertical installation and horizontal installation of two ways, if the vertical installation, the installation of vertical need to ensure that better than 1%, if the horizontal installation, the installation of the level need to ensure that better than 1%.
• 4. If the medium with solid impurities, should be installed between the valve and the straight section of the filter; if the medium with ferromagnetic substances, should be installed in the upstream of the metal tube float flowmeter magnetic filter.
• 5. As the metal tube float flowmeter is fitted with a magnetic telemetry system, it is important to ensure that the magnetic fields generated by other machinery and equipment in the vicinity do not affect the measurement results.
• 6. If the measured medium is a large pulsating flow or two-phase flow, a buffer should be installed upstream of the flowmeter to eliminate or attenuate the pulsation, to ensure that the flow of the medium is a single-phase and smooth, in addition, it is recommended that the flowmeter should preferably be used as a damping type.
• 7. Flowmeters measuring gases are calibrated at special pressures. If the gas is discharged directly into the atmosphere at the outlet of the flowmeter, there will be a large pressure loss at the float, causing distortion of the data, and if this is the case, it is necessary to install a valve at the outlet of the flowmeter in order to set the required flow rate value. When the calibration pressure is maintained above the float, the gas will expand at the valve.
• 8. A bypass line is recommended for easy cleaning and maintenance to ensure normal production operation.
• 9. The axis of the installation piping must be coaxial with the flowmeter, and properly support the piping to avoid vibration and reduce the stress on the flowmeter, the measurement system control valve should be installed downstream of the flowmeter.
• 10. When installing the PTFE lined metal tube float flowmeter, tighten the flange bolts symmetrically and do not over-tighten to prevent deformation of PTFE.
